Rock icons are on ‘semi-permanent hiatus,’ haven’t played a show in 8 years

If you’re hoping for Faith No More’s “Epic” return, there’s some bad news. Keyboardist Roddy Bottum noted in a post on his personal Substack newsletter that the bad is on a “semi-permanent hiatus.”
“I’ve made a life for myself making music. With Faith No More and then Imperial Teen,” Bottum wrote. “FNM is kind of on semi-permanent hiatus, and Imperial Teen is making a record slowly but definitely.”
Bottum didn’t explain further, but mentioned that he is currently working on a memoir, “The Royal We.”
Faith No More has not played a show since their show at the Troubadour in West California in August 2016. Those shows were with previous FNM singer Chuck Mosley, who passed away in 2017. Faith No More’s last show with lead singer Mike Patton was in October 2015 at the Aftershock Festival in Sacramento, California.
The band scheduled tour dates in 2020 and a proposed co-headlining run with Korn, but those were canceled due to the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. The postponed shows were initially going to be made up in 2021, but were ultimately canceled in 2022. Patton cited mental health issues and struggles with agoraphobia.
Patton has thankfully gotten better and, in 2022, started touring with his other band, Mr. Bungle, as well as metal supergroup Dead Cross.
