Khalid denies ex’s drug, escort allegations: ‘It’s just crazy to me’

Khalid is denying accusations from a former partner whom he claims outed him.
On Monday, a few days after he came out as gay on X (formerly Twitter) due to allegedly being outed on social media, the 26-year-old “Young Dumb & Broke” singer shared a four-minute video on X and his Instagram Story. He addressed since-deleted posts from an ex-partner, which seemingly leveled claims related to drugs and sex workers.
“I just wanted to come on here and address some things so we could just leave this all in the past. I know I don’t have to, but I feel like it’s important that I speak my side of the situation,” he began. “I’m going to speak about the pink cocaine thing. I’ve never done cocaine a day in my life. I don’t place myself in those scenarios. I’m not in those surroundings. I smoke weed, and I drink a little bit, but I’ve never done cocaine a day in my life.”
He continued, “Let’s tackle this escorting thing. I’ve never paid for sex a day in my life. Ever. I’ve never paid anybody to date me. I’ve never paid anybody to be in a relationship with me, ever.”
The ex who made these claims was someone Khalid dated “four to five years ago.” He said, “The last time that I talked to this guy was four years ago. This is all random. I don’t know why he did it. I don’t know what’s going on with him. You know, mental health is real. But I haven’t even had a conversation or seen this dude in four years.”

Khalid added “It’s triggering seeing the few comments of people painting me as if I’m just some manipulative abuser. It’s just crazy to me. Regarding the stories of the abuse, it’s triggering. Because it’s the other way around. And that — that’s what hurts.”
The singer called the situation “definitely frustrating.” He added: “I want all of this to be over just like you all.”
Khalid never named the person who leveled these allegations against him. But per Rolling Stone, a musician named Hugo Almonte shared several accusations about a singer he previously dated and included a selfie with Khalid on X, all of which were deleted by Friday evening.

USA TODAY has reached out to Almonte and representatives for Khalid for comment.
In a statement to Vulture and Rolling Stone, Almonte said his posts were an effort to “share how he tried to use his power to silence me because I simply ended our relationship.”
Almonte also did not name Khalid specifically. He added, “It’s crazy that these people said I was chasing clout, when I was holding onto this for five years, and I finally had enough.”
He also told Vulture he didn’t intend to “out someone who’s clearly been out already in the community in Los Angeles.”
On Friday, Khalid took to social media to confirm he’s part of the LGBTQ+ community. “🏳️‍🌈!!! there yall go. next topic please lol,” he posted on X. He clarified the statement in ensuing posts, replying to a fan who wrote “Wait hope Mr Khalid isn’t GEHHH!” with: “I am! And that’s okay.”
Khalid followed this up by revealing he was outed “and the world still continues to turn. Let’s get this straight (lmao) I am not ashamed of my sexuality! In reality it ain’t nobodies business! But I am okay with me 🖤 love yall.”
